Competition in the US is expected to soar in 2018 with the addition of a new league, a new stadium and new sponsors.
According to a report from The Associated Press (AP), the 2018 season will see a rise in the amount of television money spent on sporting events by around $1.4 billion.
The increase is driven by the addition to the NFL’s league TV deal of an exclusive deal with NBC, which is worth $54.5 million per season.
A new $100 million-per-year television deal with Fox is expected in 2021.
CBS is expected on track to take in around $2 billion per season in broadcast revenue, while Fox will receive around $900 million.
ESPN will also continue to grow in broadcast revenues, with a projected revenue increase of around $200 million.
