The NFL has granted a “Billionaires’ visa” to one of its biggest stars, making him the highest-paid athlete in the world.US broadcaster and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning reportedly got the privilege of getting a “billionaire” visa, which would make him the first player in history to be granted a franchise player’s visa in the United States.
The deal is reportedly worth about $25 million.
Manning is also set to play in Super Bowl LI in February.
The NFL has been the source of controversy for years.
The league has a long history of shunning players who use drugs, and it has been linked to several players who have died of alcohol and drug abuse.
The decision to grant a “billionaire’s” visa was announced in a tweet on Monday by the NFL Players Association.
“The NFL and its players have consistently shown a commitment to supporting the rights of all players and ensuring they have a fair and secure opportunity to compete for the national team, which is what we strive for every single day,” said NFLPA President Eric Winston.
“We are proud to have been a part of this process, and we look forward to working with our league colleagues and the league in order to ensure the well-being of all NFL players in the future.”
The announcement comes just a few days after the NFL announced the suspension of several players for multiple infractions.
It is unclear whether Manning and Manning are eligible for the same “billionaires'” visa.
